Men-yoroi (面鎧), also called menpō (面頬) or mengu (面具), are various types of facial armor that were worn by the samurai class and their retainers in feudal Japan. Samurai used these masks and ornaments to show status and to intimidate the enemy, also serving to show clan allegiance and helping identification in the midst of battle.
